How to Upload Documents to ChatGPT

Mar 6, 2025 - Leave a Comment

You can upload files and documents to ChatGPT

ChatGPT allows you to upload documents, which you can then describe, analyze, summarize, explain, or even get assistance with that particular document. ChatGPT works with just about any document type that you might be working with or come across in the world of tech and computers, including .pdf, .doc, .docx, .txt, .rtf, .xls, .xlsx, .csv, .ppt, .pptx, .md, .json, .xml, .html, as well as image file formats like JPG, GIF, PNG, and more.

Why might you want to upload a document to ChatGPT? Well there are plenty of practical applications for this. For example, maybe you were provided with a tax form that you’re not sure about, you can upload it to ChatGPT and have ChatGPT explain the purpose of that particular file, and even get assistance in how to fill the form out properly. Or perhaps someone emailed you a Word document that you want to summarize the key points for, or maybe you have an Excel spreadsheet that you want to analyze and explain. ChatGPT can do all of that and more, and it’s incredibly powerful and very easy to use.

We’re going to assume you have the ChatGPT app installed on your Mac, iPhone, iPad, or Windows PC, but you can also use the ChatGPT web site for uploading documents to as well. If you don’t have ChatGPT installed on your devices yet, you’ll want to do that first, it’s a free download available from OpenAI here.

Feb 27, 2025 - 5 Comments

LosslessCut video and audio editor

Whether you’re a regular video and audio editor or just have occasional needs to do so, you might appreciate using the handy free LosslessCut app, the “swiss army knife of lossless video/audio editing”, which allows for lossless editing and cutting of video and audio files.

LosslessCut lets you quickly extract, remove, add, and combine audio and video tracks from both video and audio files, helping you to make quick work of these tasks without having to re-encode the media file, which typically results in losing quality (hence the lossless feature, and namesake). It’s quite fast and uses the command line ffmpeg tool under the hood.

How to Turn Off AMBER Alerts on Apple Watch & iPhone

Feb 24, 2025 - 6 Comments

How to disable AMBER alerts on iPhone and Apple Watch

AMBER alerts are well intentioned and aim to help locate missing children, but can also be incredibly disruptive and jarring, thus many iPhone and Apple Watch users might want to disable AMBER alerts on their devices. By turning off AMBER alerts, you will avoid the sudden screeching loud alarm sound that is disruptive to whatever you’re doing, whether you’re sleeping, in a meeting, a library, at a performance, or whatever else you’re doing that you might not want to be startled by a screamingly loud alarm sound coming from the government directly to your iPhone or Apple Watch.

One of the most annoying things about AMBER alerts is that they’re not always location precise, sometimes they’re off by hundreds or even thousands of miles (for example, I’ve received an AMBER alert for California while in Seattle… not that useful!). They can also be glaringly loud even if the iPhone or Apple Watch is in silent mode or muted, and so when you combine these factors, many users might want to disable these features.

If you want to have a much less intrusive experience on your iPhone and Apple Watch, you might decide you wish to opt out of AMBER alerts and disable the intrusive alarm on your devices.
